I believe the study of mathematics has the ability to improve critical thinking and problem solving skills, create a state of flow that has therapeutic benefits, and foster a deep understanding of the world around us. As a teacher of mathematics, I realize that learning math is not always easy. Therefore, I encourage students to work at their own pace, with the help of their peers, to learn the foundational concepts and progressively build upon that knowlegde to tackle more advanced problems. As a tutor, a teacher, and a Boys & Girls Club aid, I have worked with students in all grade levels and academic subjects.  I graduated from Paso Robles High School in 2000 as a Gates Millennium Scholar. From there, I completed my general education coursework at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and in 2006, earned a BS in Business Management from The University of Phoenix. Then, in 2011, I received a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Math and an MA in Teaching from Brandman University. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my three daughters (ages 3,5, and 17), practicing yoga, and writing poetry. My daughter Eve (Class of 2017) is also part of the Orcutt Academy family.
