As you can see from the calendar, there is no school on Monday in honor of Labor Day. We hope that you are able to enjoy the extra day to get some rest from all of the busyness in our lives. I also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we are only three weeks away from our six-week progress grading period. This progress grade does count towards eligibility to participate in extracurricular activities and also determines which students must attend after school Intervention three days a week for those that have fallen below a 2.0 grade point average.
Next week begins the busy month of September. September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness month. For years here at Orcutt Academy many of our students through our ASB as well as some of our school clubs have gotten involved in a lot of great activities and events to support children and their families that are going through the battle. Please be on the lookout for opportunities to get involved and help the people in our community that are struggling the most.
Lastly, thank you to all who were able to attend the "Leadership Unplugged" event this past Monday with Dr. Jeffrey Armstrong, current President of Cal Poly, SLO. Dr. Armstrong told an audience of 70-plus about his experiences leading the local university and took questions from OAHS students. Big thanks to the SOAAR Foundation, especially SOAAR board member and Cal Poly faculty member Martin Mehl, for organizing this special opportunity for the OAHS school community!!!
