Spartan Tennis Wraps a Successful Season

Congratulations to the Orcutt Academy Boys’ Tennis Team on an outstanding season that culminated in a run through the CIF Central Section Division III playoffs!

While their CIF journey came to an end this week, we couldn’t be prouder of the grit and growth this team displayed all spring.

A special shout-out goes to Etienne Maletz, who earned the title of 2025 Sunset League Singles Champion. Please see the Santa Maria Times Article for more details on the team that made up this fantastic season!

Way to go, Spartans!

ASB SPOTLIGHTS

This week’s Senior Spotlight is Ray Ramos.

Ray has been in band for 7 years, with many fond
memories of the band’s competitions and field trips to Knott’s Berry Farm. He has also logged
120 community service hours, has been on honor roll all four years, and is currently the
assistant Drum Major for our band.

Way to go, Ray! 👹
Say hello to Mr. Jones, who teaches Geology, Biology, and Anatomy here at OAHS!

After graduating high school, Mr. Jones attended Cuesta College, unsure of what path to take. He transferred to Cal Poly as a Political Science major—but quickly discovered that wasn’t quite the right fit. What caught his attention? Earth Science. The classes were hands-on, outdoors, and covered a broad range of topics. He was hooked.
He eventually earned his degree in Earth Science with a focus in Soil Science, which led him to a teaching career rooted in curiosity, exploration, and connection.
Mr. Jones joined Orcutt Academy four years ago and says the thing he loves most is the tight-knit community“getting to know your students, and seeing students get to know each other.”

Mr. Jones' advice for students:
Get involved. It really helps—even when school feels like it’s dragging. And try not to compare yourself to others. Be yourself. Stay positive. You're going to have to come to school—might as well enjoy it!”

Thanks for being such a positive presence on campus, Mr. Jones!
