Say hello to Mr. Jones, who teaches Geology, Biology, and Anatomy here at OAHS!
After graduating high school, Mr. Jones attended Cuesta College, unsure of what path to take. He transferred to Cal Poly as a Political Science major—but quickly discovered that wasn’t quite the right fit. What caught his attention? Earth Science. The classes were hands-on, outdoors, and covered a broad range of topics. He was hooked.
He eventually earned his degree in Earth Science with a focus in Soil Science, which led him to a teaching career rooted in curiosity, exploration, and connection.
Mr. Jones joined Orcutt Academy four years ago and says the thing he loves most is the tight-knit community—“getting to know your students, and seeing students get to know each other.”
Mr. Jones' advice for students:
“Get involved. It really helps—even when school feels like it’s dragging. And try not to compare yourself to others. Be yourself. Stay positive. You're going to have to come to school—might as well enjoy it!”
Thanks for being such a positive presence on campus, Mr. Jones!
