From Orcutt to the World: Spartatroniks Make Their Mark!
A huge congratulations to our OAHS FIRST Robotics team, Spartatroniks (Team 3512), for an incredible showing at the Ventura County Regional, held March 6-9, 2025! The event featured 52 teams and over 1,500 students from California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, The Netherlands, Armenia, and China. Spartatroniks finished 8th overall in qualifying matches, with a 7-2-0 record, and led Alliance 6 into the playoffs.
Their 2025 robot, Charybdis (Χάρυβδις), made an impressive debut, and after this first event, they are currently ranked 257th out of 1,962 teams in the world! Depending on how they perform at the Central Valley Regional in April, they have a strong chance of qualifying for the FIRST World Championships in Houston later this spring.
Check out their robot reveal video here and learn more about the Ventura event here.
A huge thank you to Head Coach Scott Rowe for his leadership and dedication in helping guide the team to success. His mentorship, along with the support of volunteers, mentors, and our OAHS community, makes all the difference.
Congratulations to our five OAHS students who competed in the Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara’s High School Design Competition! This year’s event brought together 61 students from 11 schools, and we’re proud to share that two of our students, Kira Grama and Kyle Richardson, advanced to the finals.
All six competitors which also included Grace Oberg, Isaiah Salazar, Joshua Fabela, and Noah Fabela showed incredible creativity, problem-solving, and design skills throughout the competition. They represented OAHS with pride!
