SPARTAN NEWSLETTER

September 12, 2025

Spartans, we’ve hit our first academic milestone of the year, and there’s a lot to look forward to in the weeks ahead.

Progress Grades Finalized

Progress grades are now locked in. This first checkpoint gives students, families, and teachers a sense of where things stand as we settle into the year. For many of our students, these grades also determine eligibility for athletics and activities.

If things didn’t turn out the way you hoped, don’t get discouraged. There’s plenty of time left in the semester to turn it around. Reach out, ask questions, and use the supports around you—that’s part of what it means to live the Spartan Code.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – Thursday, Sept. 18

Conferences will be held next Thursday from 5:00–7:00 PM. Teachers will be sending ParentSquare sign-ups tonight.
We highly recommend signing up—it’s a great opportunity to check in, ask questions, and work together to support students.

The Spartans take the field in our first football home game of the season tomorrow!
Let’s fill the stands and make it a true home atmosphere.

Next Friday: Minimum Day + AI Summit

On Friday, Sept. 19, we’ll be running a minimum day schedule as we host the first-ever OAHS AI Summit.

Students and teachers will be learning side by side with presentations from some of the top voices in the field of Artificial Intelligence. This is a timely and important topic that impacts classrooms, workplaces, and everyday life. We’re excited for the chance to be at the forefront of these conversations.

See flyer below for more details.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

This month is a reminder that no one has to face challenges alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a counselor, a trusted adult, or use our Campus Supports page
.
Together, we can make OAHS a place where every student feels supported, connected, and cared for.

ASB Updates

This week’s Senior Spotlight is Isaac Noble!

Isaac has been on the football team all four years and is serving as a captain this year. He also competed in volleyball for 2 years and baseball for 1 year. On top of his athletic accomplishments, Isaac is a member of the Early College Cadre and holds an impressive 4.6 GPA.

Congratulations, Isaac!

Please welcome this week’s Teacher Spotlight, Ms. Craven!

This is Mrs. Craven’s first year at OA, where she teaches Biology and Chemistry. She graduated college with a minor in Education (Chemistry), a major in Biological Sciences, and a Master’s in Curricular Instruction. Mrs. Craven graduated with honors and a 3.9 GPA.

One of her favorite memories as a teacher was when the salutatorian of her school mentioned her in his commencement speech. Outside the classroom, she loves to garden, and she’s even brought a few plants from home to brighten up her room.

Her advice to students? Wear sunscreen!
