SPARTAN NEWSLETTER
January 24, 2025
Good afternoon, Spartan Families!
As we kick off the spring semester, it’s a great time to review our Standard Response Protocol (SRP). This protocol that has been adopted across the county and helps ensure that everyone knows how to respond in an emergency, whether it’s a drill or a real situation. It is based on an all-hazards approach as opposed to individual scenarios.

Our students and staff train regularly, utilizing the protocol and practicing responses to a variety of emergency situations throughout the school year. Practice of emergency procedures through drills and training can reduce confusion, panic, and even serious injury for both staff and students.

Next Thursday, January 30, we will be conducting a Lockdown Drill as part of our regular safety training. If you would like to opt your student out of the drill, please contact the school's office at least 24 hours prior to the drill.

Should an emergency arise that necessitates evacuation of a school campus, our district has established predetermined rally points which are shared in a letter attached to this message. We ask that in the case of a true emergency, parents do not respond directly to the school site because it can interfere with emergency vehicles and there is also the possibility students will be moved to an alternate location.

We also want to take a moment to remind students that if you see something, say something. There multiple ways to report any safety concern including:

Thank you for your continued partnership with Orcutt Academy and for supporting our goal of creating the safest possible environment for our students and staff. If you have any questions about the protocols or our safety procedures, please contact our school office.
